The sweet smell of fame

by Sara Birer November 04, 2016

Have you ever wondered what some of our most loved and famous celebrities have worn?

Sweet Fern will give you a sneak peak into the world of fragrance amongst the rich, famous and glamorous.

It is no surprise that Prince William (and Prince Charles) wear a fragrance which has the Royal Seal of approval. Blenheim Bouquet by Penhaligon's is a blends citrus oils, spices and woody notes in dedication to Blenheim Palace. This luxurious fragrance was created over one hundred years ago. The beautiful Princess Diana was known to wear Bluebell also by Penhaligon's. This is a crisp, floral and feminine scent. Kate Moss and 'iron lady'  Margaret Thatcher have also worn Bluebell.

Gin Fizz by House of Lubin was made for Grace Kelly. Dedicated to her beauty, perfumer Henri Giboulet made a fragrance that sparkles. The fragrance represents the star of the decade and is a soft floral blend of jasmine, iris, absolute rose bud and white musk.

Nuit de Longchamp by Lubin gained huge fame after being recognised as the scent of Mrs Eisenhower, first lady of the United States from 1953 to 1961. Nuit de Longchamp has graced the shoulders of elegant women since.

Gwyneth Paltrow is perhaps one of the largest fragrance collectors. Her wardrobe contains over 50 perfumes by designers including Hermes, Estee Lauder and Tom Ford. Madonna also hosts a large collection but is well known for her love for Robert Piguet Fracas. This a powerful and intoxicating smell of white florals laying on a bed of musk. Other celebrities who love Fracas include Martha Stewart, Kate Beckinsale and Courtney Love.

Singer and songwriter Edith Piaf wore Bandit by Robert Piguet, a classic chypre. This fragrance was inspired by romantic sea voyagers and pirates. Show business star Marlene Dietrich also wore Bandit.

George Clooney has been known to wear a refined choice of Mediterraneo by Carthusia. This citrus blend is a true representation of the sun kissed Mediterranean coast line. I was most surprised to discover that Nicole Kidman has been known to mix her own essential oil blends and enjoys a composition of vanilla, patchouli and musk.

Fragrance remains a personal and unique choice for each individual.

Come into Sweet Fern and try on some of these iconic scents!
