René Lalique was born in the Marne Region of France in 1860. He completed an apprenticeship under Louis Aucoc, subsequently traveling to England for further studies. His talent was recognised by prestigious designers such as Boucheron and Cartier before acquiring the Parisian workshop of Jules Destape. René expanded his craftsmanship from fine jewellery to decor and crystalware. Lalique then developed stunning fragrance bottles for perfumes which were once stored in vials; the concept shifted the perfume industry in its entirety. Today the collection contains 62 fragrances, each store within an extravagant piece of Lalique glassware.
