Perfumer’s notes:

Delving into our archive of travel notes, we rediscovered a formulation that was created to capture the memory of fresh orange flower distillations.

Imagine being surrounded by air filled with these most sublime little blooms as they make their metamorphosis from living flower to exquisite oil. The experience was akin to being enveloped by mist rolling from the sea, a phenomenon we refer to as ‘haar’ in Scotland. The delicious water produced from distilling orange flowers is referred to as ‘zhar’ in Morocco. It was my intention to capture this precious and fleeting moment – the petal-soft vapours falling like mist – and the equally delicate flavour of the water.

Many of the materials used in ZHAAR originate from (or are abundantly used throughout) the orange flower-growing regions, and the smell of steaming flowers is tied to these travel recollections. Delicate enough to convey and relive this memory, yet powerful enough to last all day in the hottest and most humid of climates – ZHAAR has been a fragrance that I prepare each May for my own personal use, in preparation for summer months to come.
