Oud de Pasión's Backstory : 

Passion of Christ

Brazil’s missionaries of the late 1500s needed to tell these stories of Christ’s death and resurrection to the indigenous people who could not read European languages. So, the Fathers used things found in the Amazon Basin’s abundant nature to tell gospel stories.

One of the familiar natural things they used was the plant they named flor de las cinco lagas, or ‘flower of the five wounds.’ The name was later translated into English as ‘passion fruit’ or ‘five wounds passion fruit.’

Taking a look at the flower of passion fruit and find its relation to the crucification of Christ has brought us closer to history and its amazing journey of scent. In different countries, passion fruit is called in different but meaningful names, such as Espina de Cristo, Christus-Krone, Fruit de la passion, and Maracujá.

A bit about the oud oil we use here:

The Brunei oud we sourced has a soft floral, and fruity nuance, it has this gentle honey smell when it goes to the dry down, I'd say it gives off a more luxurious vibe, rather than the tough side of other regions of oud. I believe with this and the combination of Brachin oud, which is more resinous, still carries florals in the scent, goes perfectly well with Benzoin and of course the Brunei Oud. 

Siliguri is more of a base player that kinda locks down all the more fleeting elements in the blend. It's more complex, a bit smokey, woody, and a bit sweet. Just the kind of base we look for to round out the whole composition.  By Perfumer Aichi Liu.

At Sweet Fern, we are truly impressed by this fragrance. It offers a smooth delivery from the first spray, blending Brachin oud with Brunei oud to provide a beautiful sweet floral profile.
As Aichi explained, the combination of these two ouds with the Siliguri base note—a component we haven't encountered often—creates a soft, smoky, and woody drydown. The scent continues to evolve on the skin and offers impressive longevity.

This is a beautifully balanced fragrance that we believe oud lovers will truly enjoy.
