Background:

Unlike dragons associated with the sky or rain, Fuzanglong does not belong to the heavens. It's role is to guard what remains hidden underground, until the time is right. The dragon is associated with disturbances of the earth, such as volcanic or seismic activity. In cultural belief, Fuzanglong reflects a quiet process- a hidden force slowly forming, waiting for the right moment to emerge.
